What Culvert keeps, and what it never sees
A privacy tool should describe itself precisely. This is the short version of our privacy policy.
- Never logged
- The websites and apps you use, your DNS queries, and the contents of your traffic. Query logging is compiled out of our resolvers.
- Never on a server
- Your identity. VPN servers only see an opaque connection id, so a seized server holds nothing that points at you.
- Only if you turn it on
- App analytics and crash reports. The switch is in Settings and it is off for the tunnel itself in every case.
Encryption uses modern, audited protocols, with the WireGuard protocol first wherever a network allows it.

Is Culvert VPN free?
Yes. The free tier needs no account, no email and no card, and connects to free servers in the Netherlands, France and Germany. Premium unlocks every location on your phone and is billed through Google Play; sign in with your email on a new phone and the subscription follows you.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Install and tap Connect. An email address is only asked for if you buy Premium, so your subscription can be restored on another phone.

We do not log the websites you visit, your DNS queries or the contents of your traffic. App analytics is collected only if you leave it on. The privacy policy lists everything that is kept and for how long.
Which devices are supported?
Android 8 and newer, from Google Play. A Premium plan covers one Android phone at a time; sign in on a new phone and it takes over the plan.
